Spill the Tea is Closed for the Season, See you next Year!
So what happens when you have two college girls and a bunch of their friends sent home unexpectedly from their colleges during a global pandemic? You guessed it! A tea bar! You’re asking yourself “What?” and we get it, but yes that’s what we got. The outcome: an aesthetically pleasing, fully green, perfectly unique concept, along with some fun lawn games and a Tea Bar....Welcome to Spill the Tea: A Tea Bar & Gathering Place that was Created by Madison Fitts & Talia Anzivino, two unlikely business partners brought together by a partnership between their parents and a very random opportunity in the midst of a international health crisis. Here was the challenge: Come up with a Start Up Business, get it off the ground within a few months, fit the business into one tiny space, work within one tiny budget, be sure the business is fully green, a single use plastic free zone and yeah the two girls have to work together!
In some ways you can say Madie and Talia have grown up together, just a year apart, same town, same school, many of the same friends, and even some of the same boy crushes! These two two classmates and distant friends, who eventually grew to consider each other sisters, now had to adjust to being connected through a “blended fam” and a new business partnership. They took that challenge from April of 2020, ran with that opportunity and seized a never seen before quarantine and built something awesome. So to say beauty is born from chaos, THIS Tea Bar proves just that. To say this has been a blended family affair and labor of love is an understatement. It’s amazing what a little elbow grease, lots of paint and sandpaper and two (or upwards of ten) displaced college kids can amount to!
Talia (Tal) is a Rhode Island native and graduated from West Warwick High School. She’s a former competitive cheerleader since the age of 5 y/o, has won countless awards and recognitions and is a repeated State Champion as a leader with her undefeated Wizard team. She fulfilled her personal goal of recovering and cheering at the collegiate level after a life altering back surgery and is currently a Junior at the University of New Hampshire, majoring Psychology.
Talia has plans of returning to Rhode Island to expand and grow her tiny tea shop with hopes of some day seeing Spill the Tea become a presence on the college campuses that she loves so much. After a year or so in the real world she has plans of tackling grad school, possibly in the study area of Forensics.
Madison (Madie) was born and raised in Rhode Island and graduated from West Warwick High School and has recently moved on and is no longer part of Spill the Tea. Madie is busy with her final semester and job hunting! She looks forward to trying her hand at all new business opportunities upon her pending graduation in the Spring ‘22 and we wish her the best of luck!
